Set up your account & workspace
Before you can work in FlawDesk you need three things: an account, an encryption key set up for it, and a workspace. Together this takes about five minutes.
1. Create an account
1. On the sign-in page choose Sign up, enter your e-mail address and a password. 2. You receive an e-mail with an activation link. The link is valid for 24 hours — after that you can request a new one from the sign-in page. 3. After clicking the link, sign in with your e-mail address and password.
2. Set up encryption and save your recovery code
FlawDesk encrypts the contents of your workspaces (descriptions, comments, field values) so that only workspace members can read them — not even FlawDesk itself. That is why a dialog appears on your first sign-in that sets up encryption for your account and then shows your recovery code.
What you need it for:
- Forgotten password — with the recovery code you restore access to the encrypted content yourself. A new password alone is not enough.
- New device — on the first sign-in on another device, encryption is activated there once. Your password is normally sufficient; the recovery code is the fallback if that is not possible.
You can generate a new code later under Settings → Account → Security. The old one becomes invalid.
More under Encryption & privacy.
3. Create a workspace
A workspace is the frame for everything else: it holds projects, tickets, members and permissions. You need one as an individual just as a team does.
1. In the left sidebar click the + next to Workspace (on the very first start the Create workspace button appears instead). 2. Enter a name and confirm.
Whoever creates the workspace is its owner. The owner manages the workspace, appoints members and can transfer ownership later.
4. Invite your team (optional)
1. Open the workspace settings via the gear icon in the left rail (Settings). 2. Members tab → Invite member → enter the e-mail address. 3. The invited person receives an e-mail. If they have no FlawDesk account yet, they create one when accepting.
Every member has a role:
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything — including deleting the workspace and transferring ownership |
| Admin | Manage members, permissions and workspace settings |
| Member | Work within their permission group |
5. Understand permissions
What a member may actually do is defined by their permission group — under Workspace settings → Permissions. Individual rights such as "Create tickets", "Trigger builds" or "Trigger deploy" are bundled into groups and assigned to members.
Important: these rights apply everywhere in the same way — in the browser and for an AI client working through the user's connector token. A token can do nothing the user cannot do themselves.
